We are seeking a Business Governance & Internal Control Advisor to act as key advisor on compliance requirements and internal controls within Ambulance Victoria (AV) . This is a part-time, ongoing position (26 hours per week) working as part of our wider Enterprise Services Division at our Doncaster headquarters. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at Doncaster in line with our hybrid working model. About The Role Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer this position will be a key advisor on compliance and provide assistance in the continuous improvement of AV's overall control environment including assurance activities. Responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Provide advice or interpretation of relevant policies and frameworks to ensure compliance obligations of AV are met
- Manage the annual review of internal control frameworks and policies for Board approval and annual attestation to the Secretary of the Department
- Manage the annual review of AV's insurance policies with the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority
- Assist in the annual financial compliance review, analyse and identify control breakdowns or non-compliance and provide advice (as necessary) on action plans
- Actively monitor action plans in response to Internal Audit and VAGO recommendations and prepare reports to Audit and Risk Committee on the status of the action plans
- Assist in the annual fraud risk assessment, analyse and identify control breakdowns, provide guidance in the implementation of action plans to mitigate risks, report results of assessment, and monitor action plans
- Assist in the review and identification of improvement opportunities on governance and control to enhance the maturity of AV control environment
About You To be considered for this position you will have a completion of a degree in business or related field, or relevant industry certification with proven subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience. Other requirements include (not limited to):
- Experience in either external or internal audit, compliance or risk management along including experience implementing systems and processes for monitoring and tracking assurance activities
- Knowledge on professional standards and concepts, methodology, approach, techniques including emerging management practices on financial compliance, policies and procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills, contributing strong and collaborative internal and external relationships
- High-level written and verbal communication skills to articulate clearly, and develop well-structured reports involving detailed, complex and technical concepts for varying levels of stakeholders
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, and resourceful in dealing with ambiguity or complex issues to modify styles and techniques to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals
