The Role As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of payroll for 300+ employees, with a strong focus on compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement. You will bring a solid understanding of Enterprise Agreements, individual employment contracts, and Modern Awards to ensure payroll is processed in line with legislative and organisational requirements. This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who is looking to broaden their career by gaining exposure to the wider People & Culture function. Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of 300+ employees on both fortnightly and monthly pay cycles.
  • Ensure payroll is compliant with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and tax requirements.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, changes to salary, leave, and deductions.
  • Process superannuation contributions, PAYG withholding tax, and other statutory obligations.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll journals for the finance team.
  • Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support end-of-financial-year activities including STP reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Generate and maintain payroll reports as required by management, People & Culture, and auditors.
  • Drive ongoing enhancements and process improvements within the payroll system
  • Keep up to date with changes to payroll legislation and ensure compliance.
  • Provide administrative support for People & Culture initiatives and programs.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing end-to-end payroll processing
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience using HRIS/Payroll Systems (Fusion 5 Empower desirable)
  • Ability to champion payroll system process improvement initiatives
